Serious Bike shops in NJ/NY/CT???

Now that the famed Racer's Edge Bikes and Fitness in NYC has closed;

Where do you go for some serious DH/FR/AM rides, builds, and repairs?? I'm been there on 2 occasions and Gerald serviced my fork in a matter of hours waiting and hanging out. He also laced up a wheel for one of the riders in less than an hour...

Being from NJ right over the Holland, not too many NJ shops even cater to long travellers..... I don't mind the trek to NYC if it's worth it...

When you find a good shop let us know.  I think the closest shop is in california.  The east coast is completely dead in the freeride/dh market.  Not only that but most manufactures have not produced any bikes this year due to the economy so we are all screwed.  They need to come up with a better strategy, either make bikes more expensive and last longer or cheaper and make alot of them.  I've been talking to alot of industry peeps and it doesn't look good this year for new bikes.  If you need a frame your totally screwed.  England seems to have the most thriving bike scene at the moment, or canada.  East coast peeps would rather spend the money on 24 packs of natty ice all summer then go on a freeride adventure.  Hopefully next season the bike companies invest in the future of the sport before it goes way out.

I hear ya on that one. I've been building up bikes myself for my friends since there really isn't a shop around anymore. If I could only learn to lace/truew wheels I'd be set. Right now I'm doing TIG work on a V10 that a friend cracked on the bottom link. I myself am just getting back on the scene after a 2 year hiatus.. Personally the rigs could be of any year. I ride a 99 Balfa BB7 and an 03' DH50 Fetish on 24's. Now the V10 build up is coming to term and I'd doing this on a budget just to see where I end up.... then who knows which frame is next.... V11 seems to be overkill but I do like it.
