Has anyone tried these tires out in the freeride casing? It seems too good to be true having that much tire in a wire bead at 1050g's. I just grabbed a couple in an attempt to get my link down to 45 lbs, everyone is in big trouble if I have a 45 pound bmw... with 2.5's.. I might be walking down the mt a couple times but 45 lbs? * Tomac Signature Series with tall knobs designed to penetrate and hold on hardpacked to loose terrain * Freeride models have a butyl insert for extra strength and durability * Stick E rubber * 1050g http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=32483

This is the new freeride casing, "In between" DH and XC?
I am curious too, alrthough Im not a fan of the Neve 2.5's or 2.7's -- the 2.3's hook up so well, but the others (IMHO) are floaters and need to be cut to perform.
Rambling tangent, but I 'would' like to know what people think. The Kenda DH casing is kinda blah and overly stuff; Im a maxxis ho for DH

I'd ride maxxis if I could afford it, but the $20 nevis at the us open has me set through the next season or so.
Stay far away from the 'freeride' casing. Dual ply on the tread, single on the sidewall. Fail, fail, faily, fail, fail, fail.

Ya I agree, and own just about every dh tire available except for those continentals. The maxxis wear out too fast for me, and the nevgals have the ultimate off camber tire profile for plattikill. The 2.35 kendas are almost the same as 2.5 maxxis. The 2.5 kenda is like a light slightly shorter profile than the 2.7 maxxis. Sean ran those 2.5 nevs in a single ply for months before he started having problems. All I want is a couple weeks of light weight performance from these freeride casing tires. I know they will fail eventually and end up on my all mountain bike. I'm going to this flea market in PA next week that supposedly has everything for cheap. Do they have the 2.35's in freeride casing? Basically I'm a tire whore and can't get enough. I really think kenda should have a nevgal in 2.4 in 2ply around 1100 grams, would be the ultimate dh tire. I always run smaller tires in the middle of the season when trails are dry, then up the size for fall/winter conditions. Anyone want to swap some tires out? I have every tire in every size, compound, ply, you name it I gots it. Looking for some single ply 2.35's for enduro type riding. ?

I love the Michi's too. They're re-releasing their DH line with some mods that everyone used to do anyway, and some terrible new names.

Wow these 2.5 FR casing tires look perfect. You can actually feel the butyl insert around the whole top of tire and around to half way down the sidewall. Kenda really came thru this time, can they do this same casing on the 2.35's by any chance? Ended up dropping over 1000 grams for under $100. At some point I'll definately be walking down the mt with a flat but that could be said about any tire or casing. This new casing should be a big hit with the racer types. 45lbs with steel everything.

So far soo good with these FR casings. As far as the single ply nevs I've also had many flats with them, and have had them run good for months also. It seems like they run good until you get the first flat and it's all over for the single plys.

Last season I was running Maxxis DHF 2.35(2-ply), go them for $40 from chain reactioncycles from the UK. It seems like Europe only carry them since in the US I only see the single plys. If order, best to call peeps if they want to order and save on shipping which I did. JUst to warn u ordering from there, your credit card will charge conversion fee. I heard some people didn't get the charge b/c of specific CC.
