coming in late fri to newark, staying JC
So the absolute earliest I could leave would be sat
and I'd still have to build up bike
trying to get the blindisde built (parts swapped over from BR before then)

i have no problem renting a van or sprinter if everyone chips in
Someone must know prices and where to stay
I'll look ijnto as well
It's gotta be cheaper than whislter, no flights

Went this weekend. Highland is effing sick. Plenty of big stunts, tech trails, natural terrain, swoopy berms deep in the woods, huge slopestyle park, 2 true jump parks, a sweet pump track and a bar.

I haven't had to override the sense-of-self-preservation feeling in a while while riding, but a few of the stunts made me sack up a bit before hitting them. Definitely worth the trip. I urge you to GO. And bring a hardtail for post-DH jump sessions in the parks after the lifts close.

We stayed here, about 10 minutes from the mountain. I'm gonna try and make this trip as well. Have to talk it over with the Boss.

Pushing the speed limit or tricking on any corse can be scarry to everyone.  That's why we do this shit and need to check out spots like Highland to get our huck crack on.   I'm seriously thinking of coming up there on those dates -Oct 18/19.  Any pics or vids to get us even more amp'd about going there?Huh?

Ali, I'm having trouble understanding what you write
I was thinking of leaving sat morn, hella early and staying until either Mon morning and driving back
or leaving driving back sun night
If we gets a multi passneger vehicle, then can share driving and makes the trip much easier

It's getting close, esp for reserving a big vehicle

Lets try to get a roll call here:
Me
Charlie ? (Christian)
Ali ?
Rob ?
Andrew ?

Chun?
Vas?
Santo?
Scotty?
Iggy?
Others?

What about BMW crue?

I've been trying to stir some interest on the other nyc bike forum too

Need help, can't do this all by myself

just started looking at van prices
Here
Thats for 3 days
http://reservations.valueautorental.com/rates?action=vehicle_and_rates
12 passenger 3 days about $420 unlimited mi
15 pass about $450
That doesnt include gas/tools. schlepping around

directions 300 mi, so figure about 700 round triip
So 12 miles / gal = around 58.3 gals
So 58.3 x 3.85 gal = $225 in gas + maybe another $15 tolls  = $240

So travel expenses = $675 and no one has to put the miles on their cars

Directions from Jersey City, where I am staying
http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=Northfield,+New+Hampshire&geocode=&dirflg=&saddr=jersey+city,nj&f=d&sll=43.430175,-71.588837&sspn=0.013573,0.03253&ie=UTF8&z=8

Lodging
Hampton's website says $172 for that sat night for 4 ppl, 2 queen beds, we can scam and say 1 person, but only seems about 20-30 difference, not worth it
Super 8 is similar prices and only has 2 doubles or kings for more

So total travel and lodging are about $847 if we stay one night

Passes are $35/day
http://www.highlandmountain.com/

So for 4 ppl its $211 + 70 for lift = $281
If there are 8 ppl (can we do 8ppl and bikes in the 15 pass van?) add a room at $172 = 1046 = $130pp, $200 with lift

Food not included

That's not too shabby for a chance to ride a world class bike park

Hampton Inn gives you a break if you mention Highland also, works out to like $165 a night for room w/ 2 queens. Plus, FREE BREAKFAST.

I can't make the weekend, unfortunately, the missus has to leave for an biz trip Sunday afternoon.  Angry

The rest of you, GO. It's well worth the trip.

PS - that Super 8 is a cesspool.

If we don't get some semi firm commitment from a few heads soon
Not going to bother dealing with van rental (a major headache)
Just roll with smaller crew
