I have some new slick tires I am trying to sell acutally
2 Tioga city slicker 26x1.951 new IRC metro 26x1.5 , All steel beads,
I want $20 for all 3 w/ no shipping, you cant loose at that price
I've already spent the time researching and getting these things in my possession
They roll fast, less flat resistant than a hookworm, but MUCH lighter
Knobbies are eWAY slower, like night and day
You could use mr tuffy's inside, or dh tubes if you wanted to up your flat resistance, but then you have the tradeoff of weight again
Check mtbr for other reviews as this is slightly biased for obvious reasons
Personally I am running kenda krads now w/ a wide single wall rusty spoked rim
but I ride it hard and fast
(stock trek bruiser),
There are other brands of tires w a similar inverted tread design too
I hop curbs and whatever so for me more distance/thicker btwn the edge if the tire and the rim lip (where'd you get a pinch flat) is good (and yes I keep the tires at like 80 or more as the pressure fades over time )
The extra thickness seems to keep a "magic barrier" against puncture flats (dont wanna temp fate here)
Bottom line: I don't mind the weight gain, more flat resistant, more rolling resistantance, but I could still go on dirt too.
Signed,
now-it-all
