yesturday was such a nice night, nice and warm, and i cant believe no one came out to the banks...not even BMXers.... some bmx kid and i had the banks all to ourselves 6:30-8:30....it was awesome.

i might come out tonight, however its my laundry/grocery shopping day, so i'll be down to ride around fort greene/dumbo and such, but not till 7:30-8....

Scratch it for tonight...forgot that my wife is leaving tomorrow mid-day, so tonight is the hang out with her night.....
 

no doubt....my laundry/foodshoppin ran late anyway..i only rode the ft greene loading docks 8:30 to 9 and called it a night

Anson, still might be still on his Endless, which he has a caliper brake... but suppose to be getting something new soon

as of last night the ramps and grind box where still there. i learned to pedal grind. :D w/the aid of my NYC Freeride grind plate.my evil's chainstay is paying for it though.

at least your bashguard is paying for your grinds and not your frame, the few times i went at it, i scratched up me frame a bit....

i wish bro . i jump w/my right foot forward so i found it easier to grind on the left side. that chainstay is hurting.i gotta rig something up otherwise its gonna look like swiss cheese. took me a minute to get used to grinding on my left .my pegs where alway on the right side of my bmx bike back in the day.

no doubt.. i misread your post, i thought u said your evil bashguard.... .eventhough my frame is steel, i still dont realy like the idea of grinding the piss out of it, i'm new to this, so even the noise itself makes me check the frame after each attempt.  so i got some metal clamps, and i'm in the process of finding a piece of sheet metal somewhere so i can wrap it around my chainstay "shino" style....

and i dont have grind plates, so i think i'll take out some pins from my pedal and just grind on that....its a 27$ odyssey cilensky or whatever, so i'm not too worried that i'll destroy it. but eventualy i want to get some of them plastic commando grind plates from danscomp, or maybe even spend 100$+ on NYC freeride+plate, if i'm on crack enough.....

Damn it all...oh well, looks like maybe I'll put a peg back on and go session BAM or something then....

word from my bmx boy is that theyre going to leave some of it for us to ride, and the other stuff is going to be tennis courts...

notice how they didnt demolish the actualy bank part yet, they left that and wrecked all the stuff on the other side of the barrier.  

also, i was there last week so it could be dead by now..

i've been there since age 10 as a skateboard poser.

Alright...here is the latest that I have heard.  Seems that the small banks/handrail area is going to be set aside as a senior citizens area.  Not rideable/skateable during normal hours...late night poaching sessions, maybe.  the top 30-40 percent of the big banks closest to the small banks, will be the volleyball courts/other recreational activities section.  the lower 60-70 percent of the banks, with the stair set, hand rail, pillars, will be set aside as skateboard area.  I am fairly sure that they will allow bike usage there also.  Thanks to 5Boro, Bobby Puleo, and anyone else involved in the parks dept. meeting that helped save the banks.

they will allow bikes there because bikers own that spot more than skateboarders.  bobby puelo is probably a nice guy and respects two wheelers.  he also knows that bikers tend to be alot stronger than skateboarders.

They better let us ride there, or we can just f*(k them up... its their choice. Plus,  a bike can be a powerful weapon when you know how to use it! ^_^   ;)

It isn't a case of us versus them...I was one of "them" for 20 years, and I have to say, the people that get the most respect are those that can co-operate to keep riding spots around.  We all are doing our sh!t on the wrong side of the law, and the wrong side of local government.  It takes co-operation to keep these spots alive.  Infighting is just going to make public opinion of us worse.  When lil' Johnny rollerblader goes home and tells his upper east side mommy and daddy that he got beat up by a kid on a bike at the banks, you think that is going to help the cause?  
  And remember, respect is earned, not owed.
 

I Agree all the way except on the respect thing - I show/give respect to everyone, respect sia given that should be LOST not earned.

IE - treate people respectfully until they screw up!

The banks was cool today, even though once i got there everybody disapated like i had the plaque... it's cool, i stood there for an hour with the skate board dude, and Flew home... man i really enjoy riding my Urban Bike... but really cannot wait to Freeride/Downhill...

Yeah, i did my first reverse today, it was cool....  was just feeling out the place, i had a great time, even though i was alone.. it was great....

We got there around 8p.m. with a large crew of big bikes. Many bmxers out there  also like Tyrone from animal.  I really miss the ramps out there, but always fun at the banks. Props to Mike from BX for doing the Manhattan bridge gap.  Hopefully we'll get the footage on here.

Someone built a 1/4 to wall thing right after the stairs.  Drop the stairs smash the wall then back up the stairs.  I saw some suit looking at it, checking it's stability. He didn't look happy so get out and enjoy before it gets torn down.

Yo I wish I could make it out there.  I'm like a real tight pants bmxican now with the grinding and spinning off everything. I was the only one there with brakes last weekend among 100's of riders. What new stuff at Owl's head you talking bout?  The street corse was re-done last season with that spine etc.
