: Chris King GripLock Conversion Kit : Reefer Southerland January 01, 2011, 02:43:04 PM Has anyone tried this new part out from king? I have alot of creaking going on in the headset of my hardtail so I'm going to order one. It also has a couple snags in the handling, but the bearings feel good. King should just give these to people that already spent $130 on they headset. This is more of a recall than an upgrade in my opinion. Just by offering this part as a fix for long travel-slack headtube bikes is admitting their old headsets have problems. Lucky for us there are tons of great headsets available these days for alot cheaper than king can offer. I have a cane creek on my trail bike and its way smoother than my 2 king sets. If your buying a new headset these days I wouldn't recommend king at all. If your having problems like me with your old king than try this part out for $30.
